WRIGHT (CUTHBERT), bookseller in London, 1613-39. Son of Thomas Wright of Buckbrook, co. Northampton, yeoman. Apprentice to Felix Kingston { KINGSTON, Felix ( - 1653) ‹ LBT 07948 › }, stationer of London, for eight years from June 24th, 1603 [Arber, ii. 272]. Took up his freedom on November 5th, 1610 [Arber, iii. 683]. Cuthbert Wright made his first entry in the Registers on August 11th, 1613 [Arber, iii. 531]. He appears to have been one of the partners in the Ballad Stock of the Company, as on December 14th, 1624, in company with Thomas Pavier { PAVIER, Thomas ( - 1625) ‹ LBT 08217 › }, John Wright { } , Edward Wright { WRIGHT, Edward ‹ LBT 08822 › }, John Grismond { GRISMAN, John ( - 1636) ‹ LBT 11119 › } and Henry Gosson { GOSSON, Henry ( - 1641) ‹ LBT 07539 › } he entered 128 ballads [Arber, iv. 131-2], and again on June 1st, 1629, in partnership with other stationers, several books and ballads which had belonged to Margaret Trundle { TRUNDELL, Margaret ‹ LBT 03144 › }, widow of John Trundle { TRUNDELL, John ( - 1629) ‹ LBT 07598 › } [Arber, iv. 213]. Cuthbert Wright died hefore February 22nd, 1638/9, when some of his copies were transferred by his widow Abigail Wright { WRIGHT, Abigail ‹ LBT 03182 › } to Andrew Kembe { KEMBE, Andrew ( - 1653) ‹ LBT 10287 › } [Arber, iv. 456].
