1700 Court Died around this date
5 Feb 1700 Court Appeared, not having attended for more than five years, to say that he had not compounded for his debts, but had paid all his creditors in full and desired to be readmitted as an Assistant. By an order of 1 May 1671 no one who compounded for his debts was ever after to be called to the Table and at this same period John Sims {LBT/14519}, who was also in financial trouble, was first ordered not to be summoned to meetings and then formally discharged from the Court when it was learned that he had taken advantage of an Act for insolvent debtors. Presumably Whitwood had merely ceased to be summoned rather than being formally discharged - though there is no record of either - but in either case his pleas seems to have fallen on deaf ears since consideration of the matter was deferred sine die and is never heard of again.

Attendance prior to 5 Apr 1695 remains to be listed.

Further Notes

Last Court - On 5 Feb 1700 Whitwood, who had not attended for more than five years, appeared at the Court to say that he had not compounded for his debts, but had paid all his creditors in full and desired to be readmitted as an Assistant. By an order of 1 Mqy 1671 no one who had compounded for his debts was ever after to be called to the Table and at this same period John Sims, who was also in financial trouble, was first ordered not to be summoned to meeting (27 Jul 1699) and then formally discharged from the Court when it was learned that he had taken advantage of an Act for insolvent debtors. Presmably Whitwood had merely ceased to be summoned rather than being formally discharged though there is no record of either. In any case his pleas seems to have fallen on deaf ears since consideration of the matter was deferred 'sine die' and never mentioned of again. ---
