Further Notes
Suspension - On this day Walbanck was fined 5s., for rudeness to the Warden and suspended from the Court until the fine was paid. Since he attended the meeting on 26 Oct he must have paid at once. On 13 Jun 1653 Walbanck was again asked to withdraw briefly while the Court debated "the unfitnes of [his] sitting here hee being aPrisoner in the Upper Bench". Because only his own affairs were involved and because the Court thught it unlikely that he would come again they agreed to take no notice. In fact, Walbanck never stopped attending the Court. --- Under Wardenship - On 7 Sep 1657 the Court Book records a debate over precedence in which it was revealed that Walbanck had not in fact paid his fine for his first year as Under Warden until "toward ye Expira[c]on of Mr Nortons second yeare of actuall Service" [i.e. the spring of 1656] and had never asked nor been admitted to fine for his secon year - and this cost him his precedence over Norton. ---
