SYMONDS (THOMAS), stationer in London, carried on business in St. Paul's Churchyard. He was a witness in a case mentioned by Foxe under the year 1514 and his deposition is given. [Foxe, vol. iv, p. 193.] In 1525-6 he is mentioned in the accounts of London Bridge "for binding in boards 17 quires in parchment containing 17 accounts of the bridge works, 6.s." The binding of these volumes is ornamented with a roll containing a castle and portcullis, a fleur-de-lys, a trotting horse, a rose, a pomegranate and the Royal Arms, and between the horse and rose are Symonds' mark and initials. [Welch, History of the Tower Bridge, p. 46.]
