SUTTON (BARTHOLOMEW), bookseller in London, 1609; St. Paul's Churchyard. Son of Bartholomew Sutton, citizen and draper of London. Apprentice for eight years to Edward Whyte { WHITE, Edward ( - 1612) ‹ LBT 08008 › }, stationer of London, from December 25th, 1601; took up his freedom on January, 8th, 1608 [Arber, ii. 255; iii. 683]. Made his first book entry in partnership with William Barrenger { BARRENGER, William ( - 1632) ‹ LBT 07957 › } on March 3rd, 1608/9 [Arber, iii. 403]. Amongst his publications was Ben Jonson's Case is alterd, 1609, and Barnabe Rich's Short survey of Ireland, 1609.
