O.D.N.B. - see under his cousin Francis Newbery (LBT/02568) --- Roscoe, p.34 --- acted as nominee for his uncle {John Newbery (LBT/28372)} who set him up in the publishing business at the Crown in Pater Noster Row. His first imprint 1765. On John N's death in 1767 set up as publisher on his own account at No.20 Ludgate Street (afterwards Ldgate Hill), alias "the corner of St.Paul's Church Yard", alias No.20 St.Paul's Church Yard. Quarrelled bitterly with his cousin Francis (LBT/02568) and Thomas Carnan (LBT/28373). ---
