MYCHELL (JOHN), printer in London and Canterbury, printed first in London at "the long shop in the Poultry" probably" after Kele { KELE, Richard ( - 1552) ‹ LBT 28231 › } left that address in 1546 and before Alde { ALLDE, John (1531 - 1584) ‹ LBT 07935 › } began there. In London he printed at least two books, the Life of St. Margaret and the Life of St. Gregorie's mother. In 1549 he was settled in St. Paul's Parish, Canterbury, where he printed up to the year 1556. Herbert gives some eleven books printed within this period, but besides those in his list are editions of Stanbridge's Accidence, The Chorle and the Birde and Saltwood's Comparison bytwene four byrdes, all undated. Herbert also fails to notice the three different editions of the Breviat Cronicle. The last book issued by Mychell was Cardinal Pole's Articles to be enquyred in the ordinary visitacion of the Dioces of Cantorbury, 1556. [Bibliographica, II, pp. 41-45.]
