MOPTID (DAVID), printer in London, in partnership with John Mather { MATHER, John ‹ LBT 07062 › } is mentioned in the British Museum catalogue as printing a book by Anthony Gilby in 1547. The book is really about thirty years later, and Moptid was not bound apprentice to Thomas East { EAST, Thomas (1540 - 1608) ‹ LBT 07395 › } until 1566.

MOPTID (DAVID), printer in London, ? 1573-87; Red Cross Street, adjoining St. Giles' Church, without Cripplegate. Son of Henry Moptid or Moptyd of London, ironmonger, and related by marriage to Thomas East { EAST, Thomas (1540 - 1608) ‹ LBT 07395 › ], printer, to whom he was apprenticed for seven years from Michaelmas, 1566 [Library, July, 1901, p. 298]. He joined John Mather { MATHER, John ‹ LBT 07062 › }, and together they printed Théodore de Bèzes Brief Declaration of the chief points of Christian Religion, and Anthony Gilby's Brief treatise of election and reprobation.
