Further Notes

2 Mar 1841 - C.B. - letter Ingram Ct. Fenchurch St. February 1841 Gentlemen, My late husband, Mr.William Marchant, of Ingram Court Printer, at the time of his decease, which happened on the 8th Day of October 1837, was a member of the Court of Assistants of your Worshipful Company, and possessed the sum of £240 English Stock which now belongs to me, as his widow, execturix & universal legatee. Mr.Marchant some years prior to his decease borrowed of Mr.Henry Galabin of Ingram court (now a Stockholder of your worshipful company) the sum of £400 which he employed in his business of Printer, and for which he paid Mr.Galabin interest at £5 per cent, and such £400 remained unpaid at the time of Mr.Marchant's decease, from which period I have continued to carry on his business. Mr.Galabin being willing to continue to me the loan of £320 part of the £4000 at the rate of £5 per Cent interest, provided I can grant him a security on such £320 English Stock for its repayment at my decease. This I am informed and believe I cannot do without your licence and consetn, & the use of such £320 being of great advantage to me in carrying on my printing business I beg most respectfully to request you will be pleased to grant me the necessary permission for giving Mr.Galabin the security he requires --- Permission to assign her £320 share to Mr.Henry Galabin ---
