MLT Note: C.B. - 11 Apr 1820 - A Letter form William Collins Drake a Freeman of this Company was read, stating that he was bound Aprrentice to Mr.John Skirven in February 1796 by the name of William Drake only, he not being accustomed at that time to use the name of Collins, and that he was made free by the name of William Drake only - And that having had Apprentices bound to him by the name of William Collins Drake the Chamberlain of London declined to inrol them unless the name of Collins was inserted in his Freedom. He therefore requested that the name of Collins might be inserted in the Company's Books in addition to his other names, and that he might have a Certificate to that effect - Mr.Drake having produced an Official extract from the Register of Baptisms in the parish of St.Andrew, Holborn, that he was baptised by the name of William Collins Drake. - Done. --- Married Elizabeth the daughter of his master John Skirven (LBT/15951) whose business he inherited. ---
