WAYE (RICHARD), stationer in London, must have been of considerable standing and importance in the trade. In the charter of 1557 he stands fourth, and succeeded Thomas Dockwray { DOCKWRAY, Thomas ( - 1559) ‹ LBT 07380 › } as Master of the Stationers' Company in 1558-59 and again in 1563-64. He was most liberal to the Company but does not seem to have been engaged in business, for he is not nentioned either as taking apprentices or registering copies. His will, dated 1577 was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. [18, Daughtry.] He is described as "citizen and stacioner of London, St Michael~ Croked Lane: Skydbrooke, Lincoln."
