SHEPPARD (WILLIAM), bookseller in London, 1561-3; St. Giles, Cripplegate. Apprentice with William Hill { HILL, William ‹ LBT 07740 › }, by whom he was presented for his freedom during the year ending July 10th, 1559 [Arber, i. 99]. In the year ending July 24th, 1562, he entered a ballad entitled Tom Longe ye Caryer [Arber, i. 177], and shortly afterwards was fined for selling William Powell's { } edition of "Nostradamus" [Arber, i. 217]. Made his will on August l0th, 1563. It was proved September loth, 1563. He desired to be buried ill St. Giles, Cripplegate. He was apparently a poor man.
