1848-08-21 1848-10-09 Wills C:18. - late of Camberwell, Surrey. - bequeaths her share to the Company. --- PRO - widow of Camberwell, Surrey. --- "Charities and Benefactions ---", 1868. Mrs.Catherine Hamblin, Widow of Mr.Thomas Hamblin, late a Liveryman of the Company (who died in 1848), by her will, proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on the 9th October, 1848, bequeathed as follows: I bequeath unto the Master, Wardens, and Court of Assistants of the Worshipful Company of Stationers, London, for the time being, the sum of £200 sterling, due to me from the said company; upon trust to invest the said sum of £200 in the purchase of Government Security or Securities, or place and continue the same sum at interest on such other security or securities, and in the name or names of such person or persons as they or the major number of them shall from time to time think fit; and as touching the annual interest, dividends, and proceeds, that shall from time to time arise or be made by or from the said sum of £200, I direct that the same shall yearly be divided as a pension between two Widows of Liverymen or Freemen of such Company of the age of fifty years or upwards, and of deserving character, but they shall continue entitled to receive the said pension during Widowhood only.* --- * The sum of £180 (being the amount of the Legacy, less the duty of £10 per Cent.) was laid out (with £3.15s. Advanced by the company, and since retained out of the dividends) in the purchase of £200 Consolidated £3 per Cent. Annuities in the name of the Corporation. The annuities are paid at the Pension Court in March. ---
