BURBY (ELIZABETH), bookseller in London, 1607-9; (1) Cornhill, near the Royal Exchange; (2) The Swan, St. Paul's Churchyard. Widow of Cuthbert Burby { BURBY, Cuthbert ( - 1607) ‹ LBT 08823 › }. She appears to have carried on the business until Nicholas Bourne { BOURNE, Nicholas (1584 - 1660) ‹ LBT 07024 › } was in a position to take it over. On October 16th, 1609, she assigned over thirty-eight copies to William Welby { WELBY, William ‹ LBT 06870 › }, and the remainder to Nicholas Bourne [Arber, iii. 420, 421].
