TOY (ELIZABETH), stationer in London, was the widow of Robert Toye { TOY, Robert ( - 1556) ‹ LBT 08604 › } and carried on his business for a short time after his death. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Scampion and she was Toy's second wife, having married him in January, 1546. She was a generous benefactor to the Company of Stationers and is entered several times in the Registers as entering copies of ballads, or taking apprentices. She died in 1565 and left most of her property to her husband's family. [Plomer, Wills, pp. 15, 16.]
