In December 1799, when 30 years old, he articled himself to John Thomas, solicitor of Fen Court, Fenchurch Street, and was admitted an Attorney of the Court of Queens Bench on 1st May Easter Term 1805, a solicitor of the High Court of Chancery 8 May 1806 and an Attorney of the Court of Common Pleas 15 Nov 1808 and retired from practice in the year 1823 when he was 54.
