KINGSTON (JOHN), printer in London, was from 1553 to 1557 in partnership with Henry Sutton { SUTTON, Henry ( - 1581) ‹ LBT 08527 › } in St. Paul's Churchyard and together they issued a considerable number of Sarum service books. Kingston by himself was at the west door of St. Paul's and he printed mainly for others. He appears to have continued in business up to the year 1584. Kingston was not a member of the Stationers' Company, but apparently of the Grocers'.

KINGSTON (JOHN), printer in London, 1553-c. 1584 [Duff, Century]. By a Grace of February 8th, 1576-7, he was appointed printer to the University of Cambridge, and on July , 18th, 1577, Lord Burghley wrote to the Vice-Chancellor on the subject of Kingston's appointment, and disapproved of printing Psalters, Prayer Books, etc., as interfering with the Queen's grants to Seres { - William SERES, William ( - 1580) ‹ LBT 08396 › }, Jugge { - Richard JUGGE, Richard ( - 1577) ‹ LBT 07912 › }, Day { - John DAY, John (1522 - 1584) ‹ LBT 07316 › }, and others, and Kingston seems never to have printed at Cambridge, [Bowes, Univ. Printers, 291.]
