IRELAND (ROGER), stationer in London, was an original member of the Stationers' Company in 1557 being twenty-eighth on the list. In 1550 a Roger Ireland married Johanna Maptide { IRELAND, (Unknown) (mar. IRELAND) ‹ LBT 06395 › }. {London Marriage Licenses, p. 12.] By 1562 he was one of the assistants, in 1563-64, 1568-69 a Warden. He had licenses for printing an Almanack and a book called Beware the Cat. He seems to have got into debt to the Company and the final entry relating to him, under the year 1575-76 runs "Paide to Roger Irelande of benevolence by Comon consent at one tyme v.s. and at an other tyme iij s. iiij.d."
