Rev. James Hodson, Jeremiah in the Dungeon; four discourses delivered at London in the year 1807. J.S.Hodson, 1853 contains "A biographical notice of the author" presumably by James Shirley Hodson. Nothing regarding family, but mainly about his religious leanings and extracts of poetry. - connexion - which extends to the fourth generation,N, now being brought up in these truths. - ordained in 1805, and was minister to a Society of the Church, meeting for public worship in Dudley Court, Denmark Street, Soho, from the year 1805 to 1812. The members forming this Society had separated from one meeting at York Street, St. James' Square, under the ministry of the late Rev.J.Proud, and first held their meetings in Great Queen Street, Lincoln's Inn Fields, afterwards in Brownlow Street, Holborn, and eventually settled in Dudley Court. [No mention of Cross Street?] - he received not salary; but he himself contributed liberally on every occasion to the exigencies of the church. - not aware of Swedenborgs writing when he wrote "Jesus Christ the True God" in 1786 (1787). - children's book "Dame Partlett's Farm, written for and published by John Harris, St.Paul's Church Yard. - 1808 visited Newcastle-upon-Tyne - died 16 Apr 1812 in the 59th year of his age - obit no.3 of "The Intellectual Repository for the New Church" - Salver given to his widow - "To Mrs.Harriet Hodson, this Salver is presented, Octr. 1814, by the Congregation of the Lord's New Church lately worshipiing in Dudley Chapel, in Testimony of respect for the Memory of her late Husband, their esteemed Friend and Pastor, the Rev. James Hodson, whose affectionate, edifying and disinterested Labours, endeared him to every Member of his Flock; -"
