HALL (ROWLAND), printer in Geneva and London, appears to have been an original member of the Company of Stationers though his name is not in the Charter. At the time it was passed he was probably in Geneva where he printed until 1560. On returning to England he started a printing office in London at the sign of the Three Arrows in Golding Lane near Cripplegate, moving shortly after to the Half-Eagle and Key in Gutter Lane. Between 1560 and 1563 he printed a large number of books, mostly theological. He died in September, 1563, and was buried on the 18th at the church of St. Vedast in Foster Lane. He used as a device the Geneva arms, a half-eagle and key.
