DUFF, E.G. (1905), p.37
DATURE, DATIER, or DOTIER (MARTIN), bookbinder and stationer in London, is mentioned with others as having been granted pardon in January, 1527. [Letters and papers of Henry VIII, IV, pt. ii, p. 1270.] He appears to have been admitted a brother of the Stationers' Company, and presented his apprentice, William Pore { PORE, William ‹ LBT 07360 › }, in 1556. He also gave twelve pence towards the collection for Bridewell. [Arber, I, 41, 48.] In 1543 he commissioned an edition of the Sarum Manual, which was printed for him at Rouen by Nicolas le Roux, and his name, Martinus Datier, is printed in small letters at the bottom of the titlepage.
