DAWSON (EPHRAIM), bookseller in London, 1609-36; Fleet Street, at the sign of the Rainbow neere the Inner Temple gate. Son of Thomas Dawson of the city of Coventry, mercer. Apprentice to Matthew Selman { SELMAN, Mathew ‹ LBT 08136 › }, stationer of London, for seven years from February 3rd, 1600/1: took up his freedom March 7th, 1607/8 [Arber, ii. 252; iii.683]. He became partner with Thomas Downe or Downes { DOWNES, Thomas ( - 1658) ‹ LBT 11199 › }. They began entering books on June 19th, 1609. Dawson's last book entry was made on March 14th, 1632/3, but he continued publishing as late as the year 1636.
