Further Notes

McKenzie 3, pp.30-1 [N.B. Clearly not all the apprentices listed by McKenzie under the name of Henry Clarke at this point belong to the same master. Many were bound before the printer Henry Clarke (LBT/15486) was himself apprenticed or freed, yet some of them appear to be his apprentices. Those bound before the date of his freedom - 7 Jan 1678 - have been placed under Henry Clarke (LBT/15187) a scrivener, and for those bound after the date of the printer's freedom I note the possibility of either master. Nevertheless, the attribution of apprentices to both of these Henry Clarkes must be regarded with suspicion.]
