DUFF, E.G. (1905), p.22

CATER (EDWARD), stationer in London, is mentioned by Strype [Memorials, III, 219.] "May 28, 1555 Edward Cater of London, Stationer, for falsifying and razing of a Dispensation granted by the Cardinal, was adjudged to be set on the Pillory." He was an original member of the Company of Stationers, though he printed and published nothing. He is last mentioned in 1563, when he supplied some vellum to the Company. [Arber, I, 222.] He died before September, 1564, for in that year his widow, Grace Cater { CATER, Grace ‹ LBT 03091 › }, took an apprentice. [Arber, I, 254.]
