BLOND (MANASSES), bookbinder in London, 1595-7. Son of Nicholas Blond or Le Blond { BLOND, Nicholas ‹ LBT 06952 › }, bookbinder. Apprenticed to Richard Watkins in 1577; but allowed to serve his father for six years [Arber, ii. 72]. In 1595 Manasses Blond had to get Isaac Sheppard { SHEPPERD, Isack ‹ LBT 06925 › } bound to Isaac Bing { BINGE, Isaac ( - 1604) ‹ LBT 07343 › } because he himself was not free of the Company [Arber, i. 200]. In the Registers of the Company under date April 18th, 1597, is the following entry: "Thomas Ensor { ENSOR, Thomas ‹ LBT 06772 › }, William Houghton { HOLTON, William ( - 1620) ‹ LBT 08129 › }, Richard Mabell { MABLE, Richard ‹ LBT 08457 › }, John Oswalde { OSWOLDE, John ‹ LBT 07896 › }. These fowre have yeilded their free consents for the admission of Manasses Bloome as a brother in thart of bookebyndinge, and are content that he should have his freedom."
