BIRCH (PHILIP), bookseller in London, 1618-23; (1) At the Guildhall, 1618; (2) The Bible, near Guildhall-gate, 1619. Chiefly a publisher of ballads and broadsides. His first book entry occurs in the Registers on June 10th, 1619 [Arber, iii. 650]. He also held a share with Anne Helme { HELME, Anne ‹ LBT 03190 › } and Thomas Langley { LANGLEY, Thomas ‹ LBT 10604 › } in Samuel Rowlands' Paire of Spy Knaves, 1619, and Gervase Markham's Art of Fowling, 1620 [Arber, iii. 660, 674]. On February 7th, 1623, he assigned his copyrights to Robert Bird { BIRD, Robert ( - 1641) ‹ LBT 10598 › } [Arber, iv. 91].
