BATES (SARAH), bookseller in London, Sun and Bible, Giltspur Street near Pye Corner, 1719-20. Almost certainly the widow of C. Bates { BATES, Charles ( - 1716) ‹ LBT 12267 › }. In 1719 she published The Queen's Royal Cookery [Haz. III. 294], and in 1720, with Hannah Tracy { TRACY, Hannah ‹ LBT 03924 › }, an abridged chap edition of Forde's Montelion. [B.M. 12403. a. 19.] She published an undated edition of the latter in partnership with A. Bettesworth { BETTESWORTH, Arthur ( - 1739) ‹ LBT 11298 › } and C. Hitch { HITCH, Charles ( - 1764) ‹ LBT 16386 › }, J. Osborn { OSBORN, John ( - 1734) ‹ LBT 18660 › }, S. Birt { BIRT, Samuel ( - 1755) ‹ LBT 17554 › }, and J.
