Introduction

Walter Hayward was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. Bound as an apprentice to Richard Hannys in 1594, he gained his freedom through servitude in 1603 and subsequently took on four apprentices in the binding trade between 1606 and 1617. He was active in the London book trade during the early seventeenth century.
