Introduction
William Best was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He was bound to Joseph Day in 1603 and gained his freedom through servitude in 1611. Best subsequently took on three apprentices in the binding trade between 1611 and 1622, establishing himself as an active practitioner in the London book trade during the early seventeenth century.
