Introduction
Stephen Coxe was a member of the Stationers' Company who trained as an apprentice in the London book trade during the late sixteenth century. He was bound to John Cockes in November 1590 and was turned over to Thomas Gosson in March 1593, eventually gaining his freedom through servitude in September 1600.
