Introduction
Edward Romney was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He was bound to master Richard Collins on 24 June 1591 and gained his freedom by servitude on 3 July 1598. Romney subsequently trained at least eight apprentices in binding between 1599 and 1617, establishing himself as an experienced craftsman in the London book trade during the early seventeenth century.
