Introduction
John Case was a printer and bookseller active in London during the mid-sixteenth century, based in St Paul's Churchyard at the sign of the Baule. He was an original member of the Stationers' Company, having received his charter membership on 4 May 1557. Case printed and sold several notable works around 1550, including an edition of T. Sternhold's metrical version of chapters from the Proverbs of Solomon and Robert Crowley's 'Poore Shakerley his knowledge of good and evil' in 1551. He took on apprentices in the book trade, including one in binding in 1563.

(1517 - 1588) ‹ LBT 07271 › } printed for him Poore Shakerley his knowledge of good and evil, and Herbert [II, 763], on the authority of Maunsell, quotes two other books. He was an original member of the Stationers' Company.
