PICKERING (WILLIAM), printer in London, was an original member of the Stationers' Company at the time of the incorporation, being eightieth on the list. His first production was a broadside of the dying speech of Lord Sturton, March, 1557, which mentions him as dwelling on London Bridge his address afterwards being at St. Magnus corner under St. Magnus Church. Most of Pickering's books were of an ephemeral character and many were printed for him. No trace of him is found after 1571, the period when there is a hiatus in the books of the Stationers' Company.
