Introduction
Richard Vernon was a bookseller in London and member of the Stationers' Company. He was apprenticed to William Jones but completed his apprenticeship training with Richard Day, and was admitted a freeman of the Stationers' Company on 27 June 1580. In 1581, Vernon was documented operating at the sign of the Brazen Serpent in St Paul's Churchyard, where he was in partnership with Thomas Dawson to publish works including 'The Jesuites Banner'.
