Introduction
Robert Porter was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He was bound as an apprentice to Thomas Hayward in 1602 and gained his freedom through servitude in 1611. Porter subsequently took on three apprentices between 1613 and 1617, establishing himself as an active master craftsman in the London book trade.
