Introduction

James Foode was a member of the Stationers' Company in London during the late sixteenth century. He was bound as an apprentice to Thomas Hackett on 1 May 1571, beginning his training in the book trade. As a freeman of the Stationers' Company, Foode was part of London's organized printing and bookselling community.
