Introduction

Phillip Allen was a member of the Stationers' Company in London during the late sixteenth century. He was bound as an apprentice to Thomas Gardener on 29 September 1577 and gained his freedom from servitude on 4 September 1587, completing a ten-year apprenticeship in the book trade.
