Introduction

Allan Orrian was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He was bound as an apprentice to Thomas Fulkes on 25 March 1585 and gained his freedom by servitude on 16 October 1598. Orrian subsequently took on at least twenty-one apprentices in the binding trade between 1599 and 1619, establishing himself as a master craftsman in the London book trade during the early seventeenth century.
