Introduction

William Pore was a member of the Stationers' Company in London during the mid-sixteenth century. He was apprenticed to Martin Detter on 15 October 1556, binding himself to learn a trade within the book trade. As a member of the Stationers' Company, Pore was part of the professional guild that regulated printing, publishing, and bookselling in London.
