Introduction
John Sheldrake was a bookseller active in London during the late 16th century. He obtained his freedom in the Stationers' Company on 6 October 1584 and made his first book entry in the Registers on 12 April 1591. Sheldrake was involved in publishing works including Du Chesne's Sclopotarie of J. Quercetanus and W. Vallans' Tale of two Swannes, printed for him by Roger Ward. His documented business activity extended until October 1594, when he made his final entry in the Registers.

In the previous year however Roger Ward { WARDE, Roger ( - 1598) ‹ LBT 08076 › } printed for him Du Chesne's Sclopotarie of J. Quercetanus [B. M., 783 d. 8 (1)], and W. Vallans' Tale of two Swannes [Hazlitt, H. 624-5]. He made his last entry in the Registers on October 29th, 1594 [Arber, ii. 663]. His address is unknown.
