Introduction
George Merye (also Averye) was a member of the Stationers' Company in London during the late sixteenth century. He was bound as an apprentice to the printer and publisher Robert Crowley in December 1580 and achieved his freedom from servitude in November 1592, completing a twelve-year apprenticeship in the book trade.
