Introduction

Adam Ward was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. He was bound as an apprentice to Henry Conway on 25 December 1590 and gained his freedom through servitude on 16 January 1598. Ward subsequently took on six apprentices between 1598 and 1610, establishing himself as an active master craftsman in the London book trade during the early seventeenth century.
