Introduction

Mychell Clerke was a member of the Stationers' Company in London during the mid-16th century. He gained his freedom through patrimony on 29 September 1564, having been born into the trade as the son of Anthony Clerke, a bookseller. As a member of the Stationers' Company, he was part of the organized London book trade during the early modern period.
