Introduction

Thomas Stele was a member of the Stationers' Company in London during the late sixteenth century. He was bound as an apprentice to Gabriel Cawood on 25 March 1600, thereby entering the book trade through the established guild system that regulated printing, publishing, and bookselling in the capital.
