Introduction
William Pickering was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. Bound as an apprentice to William Camp in 1591, he was freed from servitude in 1601 and subsequently took on at least six apprentices in the binding trade between 1604 and 1617. He was married to Agnes Pickering and had a son, William, who gained admission to the Stationers' Company by patrimony in 1633.
