HOLT (ELIZABETH), printer in London, 1689-90. In partnership with W. Horton { HORTON, William ( - 1702) ‹ LBT 13150 › }. In 1689 she printed W. Ravenhill's Short Account of the Company of Grocers, and in the same year, in partnership with W. Horton, Gazophylacium Anglicanum, Containing a derivation of English words, for Randall Taylor { TAYLOR, Randall ‹ LBT 10429 › }. In 1690 she printed for Thomas Basset { BASSETT, Thomas (1637 - 1699) ‹ LBT 11645 › }, Locke's Essay conceming Human Understanding. She is probably the" widow Holt " who was ordered to lay down the trade of printing, see Halt (R.) { HOLT, Ralph ( - 1688) ‹ LBT 12901 › }. Dunton's reference [p. 292] to " virgin Halt" may be to a daughter.
