HUNTER (JOHN), draper and bookseller in London, 1576-82; The Bridge [? in Holborn]. Born in 1549. Dealt chiefly in ballads [Arber, ii. 301, 348]. Was implicated with Roger Ward { WARDE, Roger ( - 1598) ‹ LBT 08076 › } and others in the publication of John Day's { DAY, John (1522 - 1584) ‹ LBT 07316 › } A B C, etc. In his deposition he described himself as "of the bridge." He confessed to having bought eleven double reams of the book from Ward [Arber, ii. 753, el seq.].
