HACKET (JOHN), bookbinder in London, was a native of France and came to England in 1547. In 1567 he was living in the Tower Ward, but in 1571 he was entered in the Returns of Aliens in St. Faith's Parish "John Hackett, bookebynder, borne in France, servaunte to Francis Caldock { COLDOCK, Francis ( - 1603) ‹ LBT 08163 › }`, in England 24 yeares, and in the said warde ij yeares." [R. of A., I, 411.] In 1566 he is mentioned in the Stationers' Registers "Recevyd of John Hackett for his admyttinge brother of this howse the xiij of Januarii ij.s. vj d." [Arber, I, 3I8.]
