ROGERS or AP-ROGERS (OWEN), printer in London, was made free October 8th, 1555. He soon got into trouble, for on March 12th, 1556-7, he was bound over to deliver to Cawood { CAWOOD, John (1514 - 1572) ‹ LBT 07101 › } all copies of Cranmer's Recantation which he had printed, to be burnt. [Acts of the P.C., vol. v, N.S., p.249.] It seems to have been a common practice with him to print other men's copies and he is frequently entered as fined for that offence in the Stationers' Registers. He printed up to the year 1566, after which his name is not found. His printing office was first "by the hospital in Little St Bartholomew's Smithfield" and then at the Spread Eagle, "near Great St Bartholomew's gate."
