Robert Beckett was a bookbinder and member of the Stationers' Company in London. Bound as an apprentice to Abel Jeffes on 30 May 1585, he gained his freedom from servitude on 19 January 1596. He subsequently took on apprentices in the binding trade, demonstrating an established position within the London book trade during the late sixteenth century.
